After a harrowing sail we settle into Tarrafal de Sao Nicolau. We clean up our boats do a little sightseeing of the town and go off on an excursion. Destination is Carbeirinho, stunning rock formations battered by the surf. There we venture into a secluded little cove dressed in black sand. It’s a littlle tricky because we have to time the the swell to get into the cove. On the way back, my timing was off. A big wave crashed… and what happens next could spell the end of my journey. It may all end right here.

He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. It’s their Winded Voyage. A real living adventure series.
