When sailing from Cabo Verde to Dakar Senegal we had to pass through a sandstorm. Sail into a headwind. Batteries ran dead during the night. What was supposed to be a 4 day passage turned into 6 days. Then when we had to navigate through a maze of fishing nets laid out near the coast as we were approaching our destination, Dakar Senegal.

Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin.
