Early in the morning we were about crossing the mean straight after ripping my main sail. And as usual the Canal do Sao Vicente was mean. But we managed just fine. We had breakfast and a rest just in time for Lily’s birthday party the next day. Another never ending fiesta. But me and Peter get down to business and go and get our sails fixed. This is what sailing Galopin in Cape Verde Africa is about. It’s my life, my Winded Voyage.

Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. It’s their Winded Voyage. A real living adventure series.
