The Dash to Luperón Before Hurricane Season
After weeks of waiting, we finally leave Turks & Caicos—but not without nerves. The weather window wasn’t ideal, the seas were big, and a fast-moving thunderstorm had us pushing hard to stay ahead of it.
The reward? Safe arrival in Luperón Harbour, Dominican Republic, just in time to settle in for hurricane season. Once the anchor is down, everything slows way down.
We find our rhythm in Luperón—fresh local food, daily routines, new friendships, and tackling the never-ending list of boat projects that come with life aboard. From intense offshore sailing to peaceful anchorage life, this episode is a full reminder of why we chose this lifestyle in the first place.
This is cruising life—uncertain weather, big decisions, hard days, and the calm that comes after.
