Sailing Turks & Caicos: Squalls, Grand Turk, and the 3rd Largest Reef
A smooth sail across the Turks and Caicos Bank quickly turns sporty as a squall hits while exiting the bank, we drop anchor at remote Big Sand Cay 🌊⛵️
The next day, we sail up to Cockburn Town on Grand Turk to officially check out of the country. From colorful island houses and wandering donkeys to quiet streets and beautiful coastal views, Grand Turk delivers classic Caribbean charm.
We also snorkel the third largest barrier reef in the world—with mixed expectations and honest impressions 🐠🤿
After checking out, we sail back to Big Sand Cay where the adventure continues: spotting iguanas, playing in powerful waves, and enjoying a steep, wild beach that reminds us why we love life off the beaten path.
From calm seas to squalls, quiet towns to empty cays—this is sailing life in Turks & Caicos.
