Thank you to everybody who has supported the creation of these video and has shared this journey with my sailboat Karl with me so far. It would not have been the same without you.

This episode was filmed in 01 / 2021.

Hey, my name is Nike and I bought an aluminum 37 foot sailboat in Panama in 2013 that I named KARL. I spent a good year refitting it, mostly by myself and with the help of awesome friends, and then (mostly) solo sailed my sailboat around the western Caribbean.

In 2016, I crossed the Panama Canal, had a major engine break down, a near sinking experience and a serious foot injury which got me stuck along the Pacific coast of Central and South America.

In this Episode, I single-hand my boat Karl from the anchorage in Rio Cacique (Las Perlas, Panamá) to Isla San Telmo to visit the wreck of the world’s first functioning submarine The Explorer built in 1865.

After a quick stop, I move on to Isla Cañas and up north to Isla Contadora to pick up some new goodies for my sailboat Karl. New Dakota lithium batteries and new solar panels and inverters from Xantrex. Stay tuned for the install in the next episode!

Oh, and i am going for a new paint challenge: this time it’s painting Total Boat Total Thread bin-skid paint under sail 😂. What an efficient way to spend your time moving from one anchorage to another.

Enjoy and Ahoy,
Nike & Karl
