Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail. EPISODE 345
The cyclone is behind us. The wind is in our favour. And for the first time in what feels like forever — we are sailing exactly where we want to go.
This episode is the passage. Three days offshore from Vuda Marina in Nadi, 300 miles downwind to the Lau Islands, Fiji's most remote and least visited island group. The conditions are almost unreal — downwind sailing against what are typically the prevailing trade winds, with the tail end of Cyclone Vaianu pushing us exactly where we need to be. Sometimes the ocean just delivers.
The fish we caught in the first hours of the last passage? It became a tuna poke bowl, made from scratch on passage and eaten on the top deck in perfect sailing conditions. If you're going to be 300 miles offshore — that's the way to do it.
And at the end of it all — we arrive somewhere that genuinely stopped us in our tracks. Seven years of sailing. Some of the most beautiful places on earth. We're not going to spoil it. But we will say — worth every single mile.
