Northwest Passage: Croaker Bay to Peale Sound

In 2011, Matt Rutherford set a Guinness World Record for skippering the smallest boat to negotiate the Arctic’s Northwest Passage. In this video blog, Matt shares his first days in the NWP, waiting for the ice to melt before continuing his perilous voyage.

After transiting the NWP, Matt went on to complete a 27,077 mile, 311 day voyage around North and South America. He won a second Guinness World Record as first person to circumnavigate the Americas sailing solo, nonstop.

MATT’S VOYAGE RAISED $125,000 FOR DISABLED SAILORS.
Red Dot on the Ocean: The Matt Rutherford Story, a documentary produced by TheSailingChannel.TV and Flannery Films, tells the tale of Matt’s incredible voyage. Along the way the film intertwines Matt’s equally incredible life story, which takes him from troubled youth to sailing legend. Think of it as “Wild” on the ocean.

RED DOT ON THE OCEAN IS COMING TO PBS

Red Dot has been accepted for broadcast on PBS. Our Presenting Station is WPBT2 Miami and our PBS distributor is American Public Television. APT will offer Red Dot to national stations during its Fall Marketplace to be held in Atlanta in November 2015. Stations will begin broadcasting in spring 2016 and unlimited broadcasts will continue for two years.

WE NEED A LITTLE HELP: $$ STATION FEES $$

To make sure this happens we need to raise $7,200 by October 31 to pay the WPBT2 station fees, which cover national marketing, closed captioning, PBS Red Book review and preparation for broadcast.
