From learning to fish on an 18-hour passage to backflips in remote anchorages, exploring centuries-old island forts, and facing 50-knot winds at anchor, this episode captures a real week on our liveaboard catamaran pretty well!
If you have any suggestions to help improve our fishing skills, we’d love to hear them in the comments!
After surviving a stormy arrival into France in our last episode, we continue our journey east along the Mediterranean coast, joined by Ruth’s brother Jack. With calm seas and steady wind, we set off on an 18-hour passage towards Marseille, hoping to dodge yet another weather system. With calm seas and steady wind, we got our fishing rods out and fished off the back of Runa for the first time, with high hopes of catching our dinner…
We eventually anchored just off Marseille in the stunning Frioul Islands, one of the most beautiful spots we’ve stayed yet. But paradise didn’t last long… the weather caught up with us, and we had to prepare Rúna for nearly 50 knots of wind that was sweeping across the whole of the French coastline.
Hey! We’re Ruth and Andrew 👋🏼 Earlier this year, after years of dreaming, we left our family, friends and lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, behind as we set off to chase our shared dream of sailing the world. In April, we bought our 11m catamaran, Rúna, which we now call home as we live, work, sail and adventure full-time. Join us as we explore the Mediterranean and get to grips with life at sea 🏝️
