The Journey Begins

A 15 nautical mile trip may not seem like much, but it marks the beginning of a great adventure. Leaving Delta Ville and heading close to Reedville up Cockrell Creek, we embrace each day as it comes with no set destinations or routes in mind.

The Calm Before the Storm

Sailing into Reedville, Virginia, on a calm and serene day with just 10 knots of wind felt peaceful but it was clear this would not last forever. After a stop at Rail Creek for lunch, we had an unexpected gift as the crew installed a new cell phone holder and tablet/chart plotter mount for their marine GPS.

Anchoring Lessons

Surely, the beauty of Reedville had left its mark on us, but with only one anchorage experience since the grounding incident months before, anxiety took over. Despite knowing that we’ve anchored many times in our years of sailing, this moment required a double-check.

A Journey of Trials

A beautiful sale day soon turned into a test of endurance as the winds died down. But when will they not be? The journey, however, went on as we managed to navigate our way around and discovered the charm that Solomon’s Island had in store for us.

Discovering Solomons

Arriving at Solomon’s Maryland Anchorage was a much-needed change. The warmth and serenity of the waters were just what we needed to rest and refuel. Our simple motor led us into calm winds as we reflected on the past week.

Adapting to New Routines

The cold wind had finally taught us a lesson; in Solomon’s, we decided to stay put until it warmed up. No set timeline but an intention to adapt and adjust as the journey unfolded.

Sunset Reflections

The end of each day meant another stunning sunset. Captured moments like these, we continued to learn, adapt and cherish the time aboard Cadence, forging ahead with an uncertain but exciting future.
