Secondly, thanks to SUNTEX Marina in Hollywood who squeezed us into a full marina. How we ever got into that berth I will never know!
Crossing the Gulf Stream can be quite daunting but with some planning and preparation, it’s actually an easy crossing. Never leave unless the wind is from the south! The wind cycles around the clock so it’s just a matter of being patient and picking your window. The Gulf Stream runs at around 3 knots so as long as it’s in your favour, which it was for us, it can help to speed you across to the USA.
We arrived in America at Fort Lauderdale and our marina in Hollywood is an hour motor to the south passing thru 3 bridges which all have to left before you can pass thru. This is all about timing and pretty easy once you’ve done it a couple of times.
