They say that life is about the journey and not the destination. It’s very possible they were referring to taking part in an ocean crossing by sail boat.
After spending six weeks getting Javelot ready for the off we really didn’t expect quite so many things to breakdown during the crossing.
However, when all is said and done it could have been a lot worse.
I’m glad to report that the spirits of those on board sailing vessel Javelot were never dampened.
The hardest part to handle was the storm we encountered on day three. We had been warned to expect some high winds but even the weather router hadn’t predicted the 50 knot winds we experienced. Not much fun.
Thankfully they didn’t last too long, so the sea didn’t get too big. Just big enough to steal our kayak that has been riding safely up on our bow for the past 4 years.
Hopefully it will wash up somewhere where someone else will get to enjoy it as much as we did.
