Ater a peaceful week anchored in Ilha dos Lençois, one of the most remote and beautiful spots on the north coast of Brazil, everything changed in an instant. What began as quiet days of work, turned into one of the most unsettling moments we've experienced while sailing.

In broad daylight one morning, a neighbouring yacht in our anchorage was boarded at gunpoint by men arriving in a fishing boat. They demanded drugs and struck the sailor over the head, before fleeing empty handed, a stark reminder of how quickly paradise can turn.
