Clearing and Cleaning RV Black Water Tank
We had a recent RV renter that did not clean the RV Black Water Tank correctly and it cost them $250. If they had checked the gauges first, they would have noticed the issue right away. The sensors said the Black Water Tank was 1/3 to 2/3 full. Noting this, they should have visually inspected down the toilet (with a flashlight) and they would have seen the pile of toilet paper and debris that filled the tank to the top, almost to the toilet bowl.
The renter stated they were going to a full-hookup site (power, water, dump) so they should have used all the water they needed when using the toilet and they should have dumped the Black Water Tank each day they were there. Using lots of water would have solved most of their issue, however, it looks like they used excessive amounts of toilet paper and I’m unsure if the toilet paper they used was “Septic Safe”, which breaks down much easier than other TP.
This video shows how I had to clear and clean the Black Water Tank using the dirty water hose and bringing it into the RV and flushing the toilet from the top down, in order to clear the clog. It took six separate dump/flushes to finally clear and clean the Black Water Tank and leave it sparkling fresh for my next renters.
If you have any comments on how you have fixed this issue, please comment below.

My wife, Melissa, and I had a great time filming a commercial in Joshua tree this weekend #camping
We love camping in Joshua Tree National Park because there is so much to see and do there. Lots of rocks to go spelunking into, due to the natural caves there.
Doing our daily hike yesterday I almost stepped on two camouflaged rattlesnakes. #Snake #snakes
Red diamond rattlesnakes are everywhere right now. Beware. My father just got bit by one a few days ago and it’s just being released from the hospital today. He is going to rehab for a little while. This is a big rattlesnake right here.
