Did you get a permit to hike, “The Wave”? If so, awesome! If not, here are some amazing hikes nearby that will give you all the fun and excitement that you may have received while hiking The Wave. These are the best hiking trails near The Wave.
This video will take you to the beautiful hikes near The Wave, like The Nautilus hike! It was truly an amazing place. Not too far of a hike and you come across this beautiful Nautilus type formation in the rock. The wind cut through the sandstone to create this magnificent Nautilus feature. Lots of fun hiking around this area and lots of formations to look at.
On our second hike, we go to The Toadstools. The hike to The Toadstools was not too bad but it would be miserable in the summer with direct sunlight. Try to plan this hike in the early morning or late afternoon. Lots of toadstool formations. Ensure you hike around a bit because there are some lesser-known toadstools lurking about.
We hike The Hackberry Trail next. This was a really beautiful hike. We hiked about 2 1/2 miles in and began looking for some dinosaur tracks but we could never find them. The Hackberry trail was a lot of fun and usually, there is some water in the trail (a river bed) however when we got there in October, there was no water to be seen. The hike was a little bit of a leg workout since we hiked in soft sand a good portion of the time. If you don’t like hiking in the sand, there are a lot of off-shoot hiking trails on the side that are more firm. The Hackberry Trail was a lot of fun and we give it a thumbs up!
The last hike is the Wire Pass hike. This is a slot canyon hike and if you love slot canyon’s, this is the perfect hike. It begins with little cliffs as you enter and eventually you come to a T section where you can go left or right. We met some other hikers and they suggested that we go right (towards Lee’s Ferry) which was a great decision. The hike through the slot canyon is awesome. You could actually hike this slot canyon for over 30 miles if you wanted. I believe it’s the longest slot canyon in the world.
