We take a day trip from St. Thomas (Red Hook Marina) to St. John (Cruz Bay) via a car ferry.
Waking up early, we drive our rented 4X4 Jeep to Red Hook Marina and back the Jeep on to the ferry. The ride over took less than 1 hour and it was pleasant, even though we passed through some squalls.
We arrive at St. John and immediately drive us to Centerline Road and explore some ruins.
Thinking we would take in a good hike, we drive to a popular hiking destination and realize that it would take most of the day to hike the 6-mile hike down to the beach. We opt, instead to go drive around the island and see more.
Walking along the elevated platform over the mangroves, we hike a trail a Sir Francis Drake Bay.
More to see, so we pass along Maho Bay, which was totally packed with people, so we venture on to Trunk Bay.
We snorkel around the island at Trunk Bay and see a big barracuda getting cleaned by a cleaner wrasse. Pretty cool.
A fun day on St. John.

This is a rattlesnake. Do you know what kind of rattlesnake this is. Comment below, and I will let you know. One of these types of snakes bit my father-in-law about two months ago. He is doing much better now.

This cute little aquatic garter snake was just sitting on the trail, warming itself. It looked like a stick until we got close enough. Then it bounced off the trail.
