Yrvind Island named after the inventor of the Bris sextant. Bonus the twisted noon sextant.
Back in the 1970-s I invented a new type of sextant, a mini sextant its not bigger than a finger nail its weight is only 3 grams. Its intended as a back up to the ordinary sextant.

The island is named after Sven Yrvind, a Swedish sailor and writer who invented the Bris sextant; in association with other names in the area deriving from the early development or use of geodetic instruments and methods.

Hi My name is Sven Yrvind. I design, build and cruise small boats. 1962 I left Sweden in 15 feet converted Blekingseka. I soon found out that there was room for improvement. To understand the basic I began to study mathematics and engenering. 1968 I sailed to England via many contries in a converted 13 feet rowing boat. People told me I be more happy on a bigger boat. November that year I found a wreck an old steam launch build 1885 I converted her to a staysail schooner and sailed her to Rio de Janeiro. That voyage advised me that a bigger boat do not bring happiness, happiness is an inside thing. I designed a 6 meter doubble ender built her in my mother basement. Tried to sail around Cape Horn with her but was capsized and pitchpoled. Later I built an 5.9 meter boat in her I rounded Cape Horn in the southern winter June 1980.
