There was a question about why I chose to make a double ender.
Nowadays close to every production and amateur boats are not double enders.
If so many do not choses double ender is there something wrong with them.
They have disadvantages but it is more burocratic.
For decades lenght have been penelised in many ways. That is why boats are more short than are good for them.
In the case of racing it is obvius. A longer boat is faster than a short one so to be fair the long one gets a handicap.
If you have a given volyme or displacement and make the boat more slender it will get a longer waterline and a longer waterline gives more speed.
A longer waterline also makes a boat more balanced.
One shape do not fit all speeds or speed lenght ratios or Froude numbers.
If the boat speed is such as there is a bow wave and a stern wave and a through between them a boat with a transom is the shape to go but if the speed is such that there is not only a bow wave a stern wave but also a wave between them a double ender is the right shape.
Shallow draft cruising boats like mine do not sail with a relative high speed therefore it is wrong to use a shape with a transom that is not suitable for that speed.
So double ender for me-
