The sheets of 15 mm birchplywood are 2.4 meter long but Exlex the Canoe Cruiser is 7.68 meter long. Hence carfing is needed.
Each stripe is 5 cm high and 8 stipes is needed for 5 cm of planking hence a lot of scarfing.
Plywood is the economic and practical choice. Today good straight wood is not found in every lumberyard even lumberyards are nowadays hard to find.
When scarfing two pieces of wood it is desirable that the angles of the cut should be eaqual.
I made a simple jig for my table saw and with a clamp to hole the piece in position it was easy. It took a little while to figure out the setup but it goes more and more easy.

Hi My name is Sven Yrvind. I design, build and cruise small boats. 1962 I left Sweden in 15 feet converted Blekingseka. I soon found out that there was room for improvement. To understand the basic I began to study mathematics and engenering. 1968 I sailed to England via many contries in a converted 13 feet rowing boat. People told me I be more happy on a bigger boat. November that year I found a wreck an old steam launch build 1885 I converted her to a staysail schooner and sailed her to Rio de Janeiro. That voyage advised me that a bigger boat do not bring happiness, happiness is an inside thing. I designed a 6 meter doubble ender built her in my mother basement. Tried to sail around Cape Horn with her but was capsized and pitchpoled. Later I built an 5.9 meter boat in her I rounded Cape Horn in the southern winter June 1980.
