Today I have opened the laminated slot with care as not to damage the trunk sides. All went very well. I finished with sandpader on a piece of wood to get the outside laminate in line with the inside of the trunk.

The centerboard is now in place and works to my fully satisfaction. I belive it is the best centerboard ever that I have done.
There is no fulcrum pin that is difficult to get at. The control lines are fully accesible.
Even if the should break the center...
I plan to fill the bow with high density 200 kilo per cubic meter expanded two component polyurethane foam.
That will increase the strenght of an already strong boat, but thats not the reason I am doing it.
The reason is to make the boat clean with no hidd...
Regarding the bow todays work is much the same as yesterday but for the port side of the bow. It went well. In adition I put a strip of glasfibre between the hull and the the trunk covering it with peel ply.
Also just to make sure I put six 12 mm G11 rods ...
Today a mix of different small jobs. I have been to the polyurethan factory to get more infofrmation aboaut the foaming and a sample to test the product. As with other chemical reaction once you have mixed the ingredients it is no going back.
Also I have b...
Now the foaming is nearly complete. I have been back to Anders to get more polyurethane with my bicycle the cans fitted well into the basket.
Peter have been helping me with the mixing. Things have to be done quickly. We could have been done it faster afte...
The centerboard trunk did withstand the pressure of the expanding foam with a good margin.
To tell the truth I did not think that it would be a problem but when surfaces are concerned even a small pressure over many square centimeter gives a lot of force.

It is important that the controll lines for the centerboard runs smothly and do not interfere with each other.
Normally a centerboard only have one control line relying on gravity to lower the board.
Exlex is however desinged for heavy weather, designed in...
I keept you in suspension. To tell the truth I thought that I was going to do the real thing today but then I realised the bow was not strong enough. So instead I made a trial run just to show tha principle and I am at the same time reinforcing the bow nea...
Now the attachment point for the control lines to the centerboard are in epoxy. The one in the upper bow is sawn with the help of the epoxy needle.
It went well.
I intend to use epoxy needels also for the rub rail that will incorparate webbing.
Tomorrow I...
ONE YEAR SUMMARY.
I started this boat 6.27 X 1.4 meter 21 of August 2021.
The intended use was a sail to Dunedin NZ.
Plans have changed one reason is that Australia told me that I could not stop in Albany south west Australia to reprovision unless I phoned...
Now for one year I have been able to make one video a day about my ideas and building of a small simple seaworthy passage maker.
There have been many changes as the world changes and I get wiser.
Many folks and Mother Earth can profit from the development ...
I like to thank everyone for the kind donations.
They are truly appriciated.
They give me the means to continue to build and do short videos.
When I had finished the centerboard to my satisfactine and that had taken some time.
I told myself now I will stra...
Here is a bit of my thinking making the mold for the mastholder.
It will be made of glass and carbonfibre.
It is an experiment. We will see how it works out.

I did only roughen up the PVC close to the wood/ PVC joint. That was a mistake. The epoxy did not adhere well to the part of the PVC not sandpapered. The glassfibre liked to peel of.
I may have saved it by wrapping the hole thing in glassfibre.
Tomorrow we...
I was apprehensive about the laminating of the first mastholder. There was several ways of doing it.
One idea was to have her horisontal and turn as I did laminate. Gravity would temporarily help.
An other way was to have her standing vertical. Gravity wou...
I had been worried about etting the first mastholder out of the mold. There was releise angle only at one way. Lenghtwise the sides was parrallel. Not a good a good condition.
It really went so easy that I did not even have to use force.
Today doing the se...
This method of wrapping the male mold in plastic film is excellent fast and quick release. If you want a shiny surface its not for you. If however you are a 60 grit man like me. Go for it.
The second mast holder came out as easy as the first one.
Now I am...
Racing boats are prestigius thats why builders of production boats copy them.
But racing boats are limited by rules and regulation especially concerning speed.
In other words the speed of a racing boat is limeted by racing rules.
Cruising boats are not rac...
Here are details of the mastholders bottom part. A kind of vedge is at the hull side to get the desired 11° outward angle to the masts.
Also I have added a bottom consisting of 10 mm Tufnol.
Mow the mastholder are ready to be glued to the corner of the hu...
This is just a small step. I am making the bottom of the mastholders stronger.
The top strong point will be at deck level and will by its nature, having a very large diameter be very strong.
Much stronger than the mast anywhay.

The two mastholder is now fixed in their final position with plenty of NM-epoxy and thickener.
Later it is going to be made more stong with glassfiber.

It is the ends of the mast holder thats doing the holding. The middle part is just their to orient the ends.
It is the ends that have to be strong. Here I make the lower part strong with 3 extra 450 gram glas in NM-epoxy.

Now the bottom part of the two mast holders are strong.
Nex step?
I will think a bit before deciding.

Today I try out the diameter for the deck hatches.
It is a balance.
In port and in good weather and in warm clomates it is very desirable to have big deck openings. The intended cruising ground for my boat ranges from the equator to the high latitudes.
I ...
In general, not only on boats there is a fight for the same place. Things interfere with each other.
Here I solved it by making a grove below the solar panels for the oar. Its a good place for it much more better than on the previus boat.
A bounus is that ...
There have been many comments on the 5 September video on how absolutly safe the Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo4) are.
I am still sceptical.
I had planned to get my batterys now but what I will do is to wait. Maybee I can do sea trials next year 2023. Duri...
Here is the first step on the deck hatches. To make easy I divide work in small steps.
Also considering lithium batterys, they seam to involve a lot of more complicated electronics like regulators and one commentator wrote that I had to use a bus. Now I do...
One more step on the inner coaming is completed. A wedge in the inner corners of the inner coaming will shorten lengt of the cold bridges or themal bypasses created by the epoxy joints. That will reduce condensation when sailing in high latitudes.

Now I have glued 8 wedges on each hatch bringing the octagon to hexadecagon.
This is on the inside.
The outer side will rounded to approximate a circel.
The main reason for the wedges is to make the thermal bridge longer. Condensation on a small boat with...
I have now shaped the bottom of the inner coaming.
It is the best starting as the top will get close to the hatch.

Today I have been laminating the inside of the coamings. The surfaces have compund curvature. That takes longer time. The good thing is that I did not have to worry about leisure.

I am now shaping the coamings. Working without a mould using sandwich construction means that each bit have to be shaped by hand. To get a goood result I chose to do it in several steps. There are commercial hatches for ocean goaing boats but they have sev...

The rim is now succesfully laminated with many pieces of glassfibre in and outside. Everything was covered with peel ply to get a good surface.
Mow I put a rope on the outside wetted in NM-epoxy.
Its function is to act as a deflector for water also to atta...
The lid is a bit more delicate because it have to mate with the gasket and there is a bit of estimating to do as the lid is a composite product with an inner and outer skin. Those join each other and form a lip that closes against the gasket.
