Mowing ballast. The westerly gales south of Cape Horn demands good stability. 84 kilo mowable lead.

The Cape Horn route demands different sailing properties from the eastabout route to NZ first planned. The NZ route was mainly downwind. Downwind routes do not require so much stability nor sails with low induced resistance. The lug sails would have been OK except for the reefing.
2011 I sailed the 15 foot yeallow chinerunner from Ireland wia Madeira to Martinique. She had mowing ballast in the bedroom. It was not very ergonomical, to awkward. I still have the lead pieces 14 kilo each.
I have been thinking of ways to improve the canoe yawls stability. Now at the leventh hour I got the idea. I had aleready cut out the panels to the dining room when the evening between thursday and friday I got an idea of how to make it. Not much sleep but more thinking before in the morning I got to work. Very luckily, with few modifications my plan seemes to work.
