One thing leads to an other. The gone centerboard replaced by bilge keels needed a mizzen to give her weather helm when so desired.
The problem back there with the double ender was sheeting. At first I was back to the balanced lug sail for the mizzen.
The balansed lug sail have several desirable properties among them is no need for a wang.
In that respect I got spiled.
The Ljungström sail rolls up around the mast clearly no fitting can be attached above the bottom of the sail and not in front of it either
Hovewer behind I can put a gallows for the boom or whisker poole. It is OK for one tack but the other tack the mast is in the way unless there is a bend in the boom.
I understood that. But what shape of the bend was optimal?
By using a pice of wire I found out as shown in the video.
By forcing the wire over on the difficult side it gets a bend.
That bend is excactly the desired minimal bend needed.
The wire works on the model. In real life I will use a webbing wetted with NM-epoxy, bend it around the same way.
Next day it is stiff and I can use it to make a composite fitting.
More to follow.
