The original idea of the side by side masts was that they should not interfere with the accomodation. They proved excellent for downwind sailing also in combination with a bow centerboard.
Now the bow centerboard is replaced by ballasted twin keels. That makes the lateral area fixed. This calls for the need of movabel sail center.
Three masts in line solves that problem.
Having once used freestanding masts I do not like to go back to supported masts.
As for to not interfeer with the accomodation the masts are supported below the sail.
If I remember right a rule of tumb calls for one tenth of the mast to supported if not the forces be to big on the supporting bearings.
The edge of the 2.7 square meter sail is 1.65 the mast do not need to be more than 1.95 meter above the upper support. A 50 cm tube on deck with supports to the deck house will make the structure strong enough.
If you make something strong enough it will not break.
The boat is small and the sail is only 2.7 square meter I belive this structure will be ample strong.
