Everyone did not applaud the video about the bow centerboard. Here comes more.
Einstein said: Everything Should Be Made as Simple as Possible, But Not Simpler.
Too simple for me would be to walk across the street carefully doing it on the zebra crossing to the old peoples home.
At 83 I am old enough for such an institution.
A good start would be to stop bicycling and running and exercising every day.
To start to eat several times a day, lots of ice cream, with snacks between the meals will also help me fit in.
A TV with remote control would keep me entertained.
But that would be too simple.
To get an ordinary boat and sail the Caribbean staying in marinas with floating pontoons would also be too simple for me.
My way of staying out of old peoples home is to sail to Chile via Cape Horn against the prevailing westerlies in a twenty feet canoe cruiser.
1979 I sailed a 15 feet home built boat against the prevailing westerlies from La Trinité-sur-Mer, France to Baltimore Ireland, to St Johns Newfoundland.
I believe that no small boat have done something similar. Part of the success was due to the bow centerboard. At one time we had eleven days of westerly winds but thanks to the bow centerboard and a small trysail we could slowly, in comfort, forreach.
When the sun finally appeared I got out my sextant and got a fix. Amazingly we were further west than when the gales had started.
After 47 days we reached St Johns.
The authoritys were not pleased saying that my boat was too small. I ansvcered something they thought impolite whereupon my boat was confiscated.
I rented a U-haul truck stole my boat back and drove to the US the land of freedom.
The experience thought me to never trust the grown ups and that the bow centerboard was a good help when going the windward against strong winds.
Rounding Cape east to west is an even bigger challenge. I will need all the help I can.
A am convinced that a bow centerboard will greatly help me.
The twin keels are not very efficient to windward but I do not like draft greater than up to my knees. The keels will increase stability and keep the hull above the ground when I cruise the Falkland Islands and southern Chile.
I made a mockup of a bigger bow centerboard before but it was to big to let me in comfort move around in the foreword part of the boat.
This smaller bow centerboard only 0.65 meter radius against 0.8 meter radius hopefully will give enough space but it will not by itself make enough lateral area to sail against strong winds. Hence bow centerboard and twin keels
A mockup will tell me more.
