An apology for the canvas

The canvas cover for the bulkhead hatch did not only recive applauses.
Some comments even hinted that it was not such good idea.
Me however thinks that consider everything it was a good idea.
Most of the critisims was that it would take to long time and that my hands would be to cold.
Good seamanship is in my world the abilite to anticipate what will happen.
Year 2020 I spent 100 days in the northen North Atlantic in a boat the size I am building. Year 2021 I spent 50 days doing the same. Haste was not part of the voyages.
Racing is different then you are in a hurry. Me sailing I take my time I foresee what will happen.
Houers before needed I reduce sail. This makes for slow sailing.
It also means no hurry.
And cold. 1980 in June in the southern winter I rounded Cape Horn no GPS meant I often had to stand on deck for long time with sextant in hand clock pen and paper to get a glimpse of the sun at an altitude of 11 degrees.
I am used to the movement of small boats I am used to work in outside cold temperature.
I will be doing fine.
There are a lot to do this is not the most important to get perfect.
I will do better next boat.
