This Andersen 28 self tailing winch shall give 28 thimes the force. I do not know how much force I still got in my arm 20 maybe 30 kilos. That times 28 is something like 700 kilos. With the longer lever 800 – 900 kilos.
Using a block 1700 kilos.
Then in the real world there is friction. Still I it is resonable to think that I got a bit more than 1000 kilos pulling power. That should be ample as the weight of Exlex loaded is about that much.
This winch normally lives below deck in the forward part. When needed I attach it to the foredeck.
An 8 mm rope. The longer the better except long ropes get tangled so what do you think 60 maybe 80 meter can be handled with not to much trouble.

Hi My name is Sven Yrvind. I design, build and cruise small boats. 1962 I left Sweden in 15 feet converted Blekingseka. I soon found out that there was room for improvement. To understand the basic I began to study mathematics and engenering. 1968 I sailed to England via many contries in a converted 13 feet rowing boat. People told me I be more happy on a bigger boat. November that year I found a wreck an old steam launch build 1885 I converted her to a staysail schooner and sailed her to Rio de Janeiro. That voyage advised me that a bigger boat do not bring happiness, happiness is an inside thing. I designed a 6 meter doubble ender built her in my mother basement. Tried to sail around Cape Horn with her but was capsized and pitchpoled. Later I built an 5.9 meter boat in her I rounded Cape Horn in the southern winter June 1980.
