Hello friends, today we will be diving into an interesting process that many people might not be aware of – removing a hull from a strongback. In this episode, Sven Yrvind takes us through each step of the process with his signature charm and expertise.
In this episode, we see Sven remove the hull from the strongback. It’s a fascinating process that requires a keen eye for detail and steady hands. As he begins to lift the hull, he carefully explains his thought process.
As Sven lifts the hull, he explains that he has six chain holes to keep the boat secure. He takes extra care not to flip the boat over, emphasizing the importance of keeping it steady.
With the hull on the ground, Sven finally gets a chance to explore the inside of the boat for the first time. He admits that it looks good and needs some cleaning up.
Sven points out the clamps he used during the process, stating there are six in total. These clamps were essential in holding everything together while the hull was removed from the strongback.
In this section, Sven discusses some of the bigger aspects of the process. He mentions that he’s now going to screw down the strongback and how another big thing was the arrival of more epoxy.
Sven praises a man who has provided him with high-quality epoxy for 40 years. He’s been using the same product since about 1985 and appreciates the good service and technical advice he receives.
Once the hull is removed, Sven must put everything back together. He explains that there are several pieces to consider, including the strongback and the M number 42.
To complete the process, Sven and Oscar work together to turn the boat around. They clean up any remaining bits of the strongback and ensure everything is securely fastened.
Throughout this episode, Sven demonstrates a deep understanding of every aspect of the process. He even discusses possible changes to future builds, such as making the sail slightly smaller. Ultimately, he recognizes that these experiments are crucial for learning and growing.
Sven could not have completed this process without the help of his friends, particularly Oscar. They worked together to lift and secure the boat while exchanging ideas on how to make improvements.
This episode offers a rare look at an aspect of boatbuilding that many people might never have the chance to witness. It showcases the skill, patience, and determination required for this intricate process.
