The Hull Is Now Prepared For The Glassfibre

Hello friends, this is Sven Yrvind, and now I am preparing the hull for a glass fibre. I have been sanding down the surface all over to ensure that it’s smooth and ready. Now here we are covering one of them with this piece, and here is the front section, and I’ve marked the middle from this side and marked it right here as well. Applying The Glass Fibre So now we will start with the fiberglass application. As I’ve mentioned, I like to do it piece by piece since this is something I’m used to doing by myself. I’ll begin with the middle part and apply it there first to see how that works out. Wetting The Fibre Glass Now, what I’m doing is putting these pieces of fiberglass out and wetting them with a specific type of resin. This method seems to work well for me. It’s quite an enjoyable process working on my own like this; being able to focus deeply without any distractions really allows me to immerse myself in what I’m doing. A Smooth Finish To A Job Well Done Once the fiberglass has been applied and fully cured, we will have a beautiful finish to the hull of this boat. As you can see from these segments of the video, each part is carefully considered and executed to perfection. Try This Technique On Your Next Boat Project Whether it’s a small repair or an entire hull you’re working on, this method can be a fantastic way to approach the task. So why not give it a go yourself and see how you get on?
This Youtube channel is about me an 85 year and one month old dyslectic solo sailor building a 5.6 meter long, 1.2 meter beam twin keel ocean going high latitude cruiser.
