Building the One-Fifth Scale Model

Sven Yrvind, the renowned boat builder, is up to another exciting venture – creating a one-fifth scale model of his iconic boat design. This project promises an in-depth look into Sven’s construction process and offers insights into how such a masterpiece is conceptualized.

The Start of Construction

On April 24th, 2024, the work on this intricate model began with a focus on assembling the various parts. One side of the model was placed first, followed by the other. Sven plans to secure these sides using clamps before moving onto the bottom part of the construction. Once completed, all pieces will come together to form the one-fifth scale model of his boat design.

To ensure the model’s sides stick properly without any issues, packing tape was used as insulation from the epoxy that would be used later in the process.

The Role of Peter and Team

Sven is not alone in this project. His accountant, Peter, played a significant role by offering assistance. They also enjoyed some cakes together during the construction phase, showcasing how even complex projects can bring people together for enjoyable moments.

Overcoming Challenges

Despite the friendly atmosphere, the team encountered a challenge when Peter hit something too hard, causing damage to the model. This unfortunate event required immediate repair work using a combination of biaxial glass fiber and epoxy. The goal was to ensure the repaired part matched seamlessly with the rest of the model.

Outcomes and Future Plans

Thanks to their expertise, Sven and his team were able to successfully repair the broken section. As they continue working on this one-fifth scale model, viewers get a chance to understand not just the technical aspects of boat building but also see the human side of such projects.

In addition to working on the scale model, Sven is planning further experiments using plywood for an even more precise one-to-one model. This indicates a continuation of his commitment to refining and understanding every detail of his boat designs.
