12 July 2024 Epoxy work

Hello friends, today we delve into the crucial aspects of bonding and securing various parts of our boat during the construction process.

Epoxy Work in Boat Building

One key area we’re focusing on today is how to effectively glue or fasten components with fillets. These methods are instrumental for achieving a robust and waterproof bond between the boat’s parts.

The Middle Part under the Bed

We start with the center section below the bed. This area is crucial for structural stability and we’ll apply epoxy here to ensure a firm hold. I reinforce this spot using fillets, which also serve to create a watertight seal.

Seat Support in the Dining Room

Moving to the dining area, we work on securing the seat down to prevent it from being lifted or displaced by water. We employ similar epoxy techniques and fillets to guarantee solidity and stability.

Front Panel Assembly

At the front, we’re putting together two 9 mm plywood pieces. This is where I source my specific plyboard for creating the hatches that provide easy access to key areas of the boat.

Sewing with Epoxy Fillets

Throughout this process, you can notice my use of epoxy fillets to connect pieces tightly. This meticulous approach ensures every connection is sealed against water intrusion.

A Waterproof and Robust Connection

What we’re doing here isn’t just about gluing parts together. It’s about creating a structure that’s not only strong but also waterproof. Each fillet we apply contributes to the overall integrity of the boat.

Final Thoughts

The work we’re putting into securing each part of our boat is critical for its longevity and safety. By carefully applying epoxy and fillets, we ensure that every component performs at its best when out on the water.
