[Ep 72] Santa Rosalía Mechanics Couldn't Solve This | Fridge Fail in Mexico

📍 Santa Rosalia, Baja California Sur 🌊 Sea of Cortez, Mexico

After arriving in Santa Rosalía, we thought we'd knock out a few quick projects before continuing south. Naturally, things didn't go according to plan. With our fridge still refusing to cooperate, we set off on foot in search of a refrigeration specialist. What started as a simple errand turned into a long walk across town, several house calls from local mechanics, and more troubleshooting than we ever expected. In between diagnosing the fridge, we explored Santa Rosalía, visited local fishing shops, spent time with friends at Padre Santo Brewery, and tackled another nagging issue aboard Cosmo: our jib furler.
Thankfully, not every project fought back. After taking the furler apart and discovering a year’s worth of accumulated sand and debris, a little fresh water and dry lube had it working like new again.
Unfortunately, the fridge wasn't quite so cooperative.
By the end of the episode, we had narrowed the problem down to the cooling plate, but the mystery wasn't over just yet.
In this episode:
- Exploring Santa Rosalía, Baja California Sur
- Searching for a refrigeration specialist
- Troubleshooting our boat's fridge
- Repairing our jib furler
- Hanging out at Padre Santo Brewery
- Learning about Santa Rosalía's history
- Boat life in Mexico

Thanks for following along, and we'll see you next time on SmoCo Sailing.

We’re Liya, Armand, and Pinot, sailing full-time aboard Cosmo and sharing what life is really like out here…plans change, things go wrong, and somehow it always turns into a story.
