[Ep 34] Sailing into Turquoise Waters & Exploring Islands in the Sea of Cortez
Episode 34: Exploring Ensenada el Cardonal on Isla Partida & Ensenada del Gallo on Espiritu Santo
After leaving La Paz, we sail north into the wild side of the Sea of Cortez. Our first stop: Ensenada del Gallo, a quiet anchorage surrounded by mangroves and tidal flats where strong winds keep us boat-bound for a few days before we finally explore by dinghy. From there, we move on to Isla Partida, a stunning island with crystal-clear turquoise water, dramatic cliffs and we finally catch some dinner.

SV Cosmo
Cosmo is a 2000 Dufour Center Cockpit sailboat. Supposedly there are only 15 of these models built in the world, which would make sense since we still haven’t found an owner’s manual or proper documentation from Dufour. She is a 43 foot vessel with 2 cabins, 2 heads, and we’ve beefed her up with so many upgrades and features since 2020, she’s practically a whole new boat.

We're Armand, Liya, and our doodle Pinot. In July 2024, we sailed off from Monterey, California aboard our sailboat Cosmo and began the biggest adventure of our lives.
