From Catalina to San Diego: Calm Seas, Good Sleep & a New Anchorage
In this episode, we leave Catalina Island in the dark of night for a peaceful offshore sail to Mission Bay, San Diego. After weeks of bouncing at anchor, we finally find what we’ve been craving: calm water, warm weather, and uninterrupted sleep.
Mission Bay turns out to be our most peaceful anchorage yet. We settle in for sunset dinners, enjoy a surprise fireworks show from SeaWorld, and take a moment to breathe. But boat life isn’t always perfect as we hear water alarms going off in the middle of the night.
From there, we sail past Point Loma, catching glimpses of navy ships and jets in action, and pull into a brand-new anchorage in Shelter Island. It’s just as calm as Mission Bay, and we’re ready to enjoy the weekend, with our first guests aboard since becoming full-time cruisers.
