DAMN it feels good to be home, we’re back aboard our sailboat Nakama, our floating home. We are so grateful to have our home back out on the water where she belongs. What a journey it has been, from broken bones leading to a surgery we feel better than ever to be back on the water, especially with our fellow sailor friends. We’re cruising in company this week, we have whales brushing against our hull and hear their song as we sleep. We enjoy sunset anchored off Fraser Island, the worlds biggest sand island. We wake to whales and dolphins and exercise the body with some skurfing and dune sliding. Welcome to yacht life in Australia.

Slim & Soph - Sailing Nakama
Welcome aboard SV Nakama, We are Slim & Soph a young Aussie couple tryna get by living aboard our tiny retro sailboat with our cat Chilli. We sail the Australian coastline whilst attending university online and take you with us. After putting study on the back burner for years as we didn’t want to sacrifice adventure, we thought why not have both? Fed up with the outrageous rental prices in our hometown, the idea of doing it afloat came to mind. We figured we could scrape by on our tight student budget if we stopped paying way too much rent and lived minimally on the ocean, whilst continuing our passion for adventure. The plan for now, is to keep sailing onwards, keeping Australia to our left and once we're done doing that...Who knows. Our mission is to prove that anyone can do it, you don’t need the fanciest boat or a squillion bucks, just a whole lot of ambition and a willingness to make mistakes and learn.
