BORDER DASH BACK TO THE BOAT | Our first sail since surgery S1CH.20
July 19, 2021 by Slim & Soph - Sailing Nakama | Language: EN Play Time: 00:22:19 | SAILING YOUTUBERS

A mad border dash to get back to the boat and commandeering a Beneteau, we get back onto the water for the first time in 8 weeks after Soph broke her ankle.
Amid the chaos of yet another COVID-19 outbreak in Australia, and with lockdowns and border closures down south, we make a break for it from NSW while we still can with looming QLD border closures due to the current COVID-19 crisis situation in Sydney. Its been 3 weeks since we have been on the boat but it has felt like 6 months… We’re excited to see our old girl hopefully still floating and not stolen…
We stop by Brisbane along the way to visit Slims brother before continuing to Hervey Bay, were the boat is waiting for us. We’re not on Nakama for long before we find out our mate is coming in to re-fuel and we make a last minute decision to jump aboard and go for a spin. We head out into Hervey Bay to hopefully spot a few whales before crashing at Moon Point on Fraser Island for the night. We have a couple of champagnes on the foredeck for sundowners and cook up some vegan sausage rolls. We are desperate to check out Moon Point Bank as its white sand shines from afar, we pull up anchor from Moon Point and head over for brunch. We were all so desperate to go ashore as the stunning bank provided those crystal clear Fraser Island waters we have been craving, unfortunately…the outboard wont start… oh well, it was still beautiful and we are appreciative of having a little holiday.
