5,500 MILE OCEAN RACE PREP with my MUM! Sailing to a Remote Offshore Island

It was a week before the start date of the race event when news of the unfolding civil war in New Caledonia aired. A state of emergency was issued, which left the race committee no choice but to cancel. While the tensions built on the tropical island, it felt almost wrong that from just across the way in Australia, we could start throwing around other options for an alternative training sail…which led us to this mountainous spec in the middle of the ocean known as Lord Howe Island.
