Salt & Tar: Episode 81-Our Place is a Shelter...In Progress
To all you sheltering in place and bored AF! Love you all, and am so happy to see the bonding to friends, family, and boats that is happening. We so easily lose sight of what we find important and neglect what truly makes us happy. Whether that’s your family, your friends, or your hobbies. Better yet, your hobbies that have become lifestyles that involve both your friends and family! That’s what Garrett and I feel we have here; with all of you. We are enriched by those that have joined our journey. We hope this episode finds each and every one of you safe and healthy.
We set in half of our ports before the weather rolls in. All 5 on the starboard side are secure! We also get a few interior parts in. Before you know it you’ll see a complete interior and you won’t know what hit you! It ebbs and flows but we filter in the interior duties between our other more pressing or “important” projects; like the ports or the mast. I didn’t include an ‘UP NEXT’ because I filled up our time for this week but the next weather window we start making new progress on our rigging. That means layering up soup on the main mast and because February was so amazingly clear we get it stepped!!!! Stay tuned. Salt & Tar is still steaming ahead with progress. Hello World Salt & Tar is a husband and wife duo determined to build a 35 foot custom George Buehler designed wooden gaff ketch sailboat; documenting their undertaking. Now, 5 years into the project, Garrett and Ruth have transported the boat to the San Francisco Bay Area. It began up a hill in Washington state. Equipped only with a 5000W generator, a few power tools, and resolution Rediviva has grown from a stack of lumber to a boat. Continuing the project in the Napa Valley Marina with better access to civilization and the ocean!
