Salt & Tar: Episode 41-Traditional Rigging Done Modern Style and, of course, sheathing
January 01, 2019 by Salt & Tar | Language: EN Play Time: 00:31:26 | SAILING YOUTUBERS

Happy New Year!
While Garrett’s busy cutting planks I work with Tyler on his rigging project. Tyler has an Aries 32 and has to replace the rigging but he’s decided not to put back stainless like it was before but to try blending a few traditional techniques with modern line, 3/8th inch three strand kevlar rope. This is just a taste of the process and if you’d like to know more leave a comment! I’d like to include more on Tyler’s project because we find it very interesting but don’t want to bore the rest of you if you don’t agree 😉
Reid, Garrett’s brother, is also in this episode. He’s been working on his first episode and will be starting his own channel soon! I’ve already got a sneak peak 😉 Reid has sailed to Mexico on a previous boat and for the most part did it solo. He is now on I Mua a Landfall ’39 and she’s the apple of his eye. He’s sailed her down the west coast to Sausalito where he’s attending school in the city. His plans take him south but for now he’s making it work and sailing when he can!

Sheathing is finally coming to an end! Soon we’ll be able to close the tar up for good….or until the next project…

Thanks to people like you I am now making these videos full time. This means every two weeks there will be a new episode! I’ve had many jobs over the last years to fund this build. By far this is my favorite! Garrett works on the boat everyday; since day one. This is our dream and our life, for us, there is nothing else. Thank you for watching and supporting this endeavor 🙂
Cheers, Ruthie
