Sailing Across The Pacific: A Brain Detox Adventure
“It feels really good to be back out here”After a few days in Baja, Salt & Tar have decided it’s time for a break from the rigors of daily life and to reset their minds with an ocean adventure. Sailing Ru00e1iva along the Pacific coast is the perfect way to do just that.
A Pleasant Day At Sea
With light winds and beautiful blue skies, they’re enjoying an exceptionally pleasant day at sea. “It hasn’t wavered,” says Salt & Tar. “This might be the most consistent wind in sea state all day long.” They haven’t had to touch anything since starting out.A Moment To Reflect
They take this opportunity not only to relax but also to reflect on their situation. “Sometimes you feel like you don’t have a choice, but you actually do,” explains Salt & Tar. They emphasize the importance of taking that space for yourself and unplugging from daily stressors.Re-discovering Peace
Salt & Tar often find themselves in situations where they need to re-discover the peace that exists right in front of them. This can be a difficult process, but the beauty and tranquility of being at sea makes it all worthwhile.“Nature helps you do this”Their sailing journey allows them to find their center again. The peace and serenity they feel are refreshing and rejuvenating, reminding them of why they love life on the open sea.
The Comfort Of Ru00e1iva
Salt & Tar are particularly impressed with how well Ru00e1iva sails in light winds. She’s a 30,000lb gaff rig catamaran with a clean bottom and she performs beautifully.“I could definitely be out here for a while”The stability of the catamaran also allows them to enjoy their day at sea in comfort. They can sit outside without worrying about the constant sway often experienced on monohulls.
A Clear Head
At the end of this refreshing and peaceful day, they find themselves feeling relaxed and with a clear head. The open ocean has given them exactly what they were seeking – time to think, relax, and rejuvenate.“Sometimes perspective is all we need to adjust”And so, Ru00e1iva continues her journey northwards with Salt & Tar, their minds cleared, and a newfound appreciation for the life they lead.

Hello World Salt & Tar is a husband and wife duo determined to build a 35 foot custom George Buehler designed wooden gaff ketch sailboat; documenting their undertaking. Now, 5 years into the project, Garrett and Ruth have transported the boat to the San Francisco Bay Area. It began up a hill in Washington state. Equipped only with a 5000W generator, a few power tools, and resolution Rediviva has grown from a stack of lumber to a boat.
