Welcome aboard! Before we can go on the river under our own power we first want to test and push the engine at the dock. Our initial run, at the end of last year, was a success but we did find we had to rebuild the raw water pump. Once this was done we wire up a few gauges and torque the set screws on the thrust bearing. The engine got a bit hot so Garrett removed the thermostat and after testing it in boiling water reinstalled it and cycled more coolant. We got a 100% pass on our first 30 minute run. He still wants to do one more run for 30 minutes in gear but we’ll replace the sending units on the motor so we can monitor the tachometer and water temp. Besides hooking up the rest of the gauges and tidying up the wiring we can paint and heat shield the engine cover and call that DONE
