I think this ship is haunted. After spending this much time aboard her, I’m starting to think that might be a good thing.

After weeks aboard Lady Hawk, we’re exhausted. We leave Hornby Island behind, push south through miserable weather, and arrive in Gabriola with just twelve hours before we need to leave for the Victoria Wooden Boat Show. Somewhere in there, we have to make our very well-lived-in ship presentable.

What follows is a reminder of why we do any of this. Familiar faces, unexpected help, extraordinary wooden ships, and our first time setting Lady Hawk’s topsail. Along the way, we explore the ghosts people leave behind through their work, their kindness, and the encounters that stay with us long after we’ve sailed away.

More of this, please.

Happy Halloween.
