After 13 months away from sailing, stepping back into boat life has been a lot more intense than expected.
In the last episode, we shared our return to YouTube after selling our Beneteau Oceanis 43 and buying an older boat in hopes of building a more sustainable future on the water.
But the reality of getting everything ready has been stressful from the very beginning.
With only a short timeline to get the boat ready for the water, James has been dealing with problem after problem almost entirely on his own — trying to work through a long list of jobs, unexpected issues, and the pressure of getting everything ready in time.
Most of the work hasn’t even been filmed… simply because there hasn’t been time.
In this episode, we share the reality of those first few days onboard and what it’s really like stepping into life on an older boat again. There also may be one other surprise in store!
Next week, the boat finally goes in the water and the first proper shakedown begins.
