We took a break from full-time boat life to explore South Africa in a completely different way — chasing waves, meeting incredible people, and stepping into our first ever surf competition.

From the coastline of Jeffreys Bay to the rugged cliffs of Gansbaai and the energy of Cape Town, this became one of the most memorable parts of our journey so far.

For a few weeks, we swapped life on the water for the open road — trading anchorages for road trips, surf sessions, and new experiences as a family.

Along the way, we:

* Surfed the world-famous right-handers of JBay
* Adjusted (quickly!) to freezing water temperatures
* Met some of the most welcoming people we’ve come across
* Explored hidden gems like the Drip Cave and Klipgat Caves
* And watched Bella & Archie take on their first surf competition

It wasn’t just about the waves — it was about slowing down, seeing a new side of South Africa, and experiencing life at a different pace.
