After crossing the Mozambique Channel, we arrive in South Africa and receive a warm welcome in Richards Bay from the local cruising community. With Happy Days safely tied up in the marina, we take the opportunity to catch up on boat jobs, celebrate Bella’s 16th birthday, explore the local area and enjoy a few of the comforts we’d been missing.
But this stop turns out to be far more than just a chance to reset.
Leaving the boat behind, we head off on an unforgettable African safari. From hippos wandering the streets of St Lucia after dark to close encounters with rhinos, elephants, giraffes and more, this adventure quickly becomes one of the highlights of our time in Africa.
