In this episode we hightail it North to put more distance between us…. and the approaching (and unpredictable) hurricane Pamela. In our effort to get out of dodge there is a silver lining… amazing downwind sailing conditions!

Hurricane Pamela caused serious damage to Mazatlan on Mexico mainland and lives were lost. However, La Paz was largely unaffected and we were certainly a safe distance also.

Ever wondered how to fly a parasailor? On our journey South down the Sea of Cortez, we get an opportunity to fly BIG RED! Our (new to us) ISTEC parasailor. An exceptional light wind sail designed to be used for cruising couples and short-handed crews, and replaces the need for both a spinnaker and gennaker. Learning along the way we manage to set this beautiful sail in action and keep our boat speed in very light conditions.
