After an overnight sail from Richards Bay to Durban, we find ourselves weather-bound as we wait for a safe window to tackle South Africa’s infamous Wild Coast. Rather than spending our days staring at forecasts in the marina, we make a last-minute decision to head inland and discover one of the country’s most spectacular landscapes.
But first, this passage marks an exciting milestone for our family. For the very first time, Finn leaves Happy Days to crew aboard another yacht, while Archie steps into a new role on board as we continue watching our kids grow into capable young sailors.
From life aboard the boat to hiking to the top of the world’s tallest waterfall, this episode is a reminder that sometimes the unexpected detours become the highlights of the journey.
