S1E60. This BRAND-NEW Boat Had ZERO Electronics… So We Installed EVERYTHING!
This BRAND-NEW Osprey fishing boat showed up with ZERO electronics… so we got to work and installed just about EVERYTHING! 🔧⚓
Welcome back to Sailing UV!
This week we're stepping away from the refit on UV for a little bit and bringing you along to work for a seriously cool project.
A brand-new Osprey fishing boat rolled into the shop straight from the showroom floor. It hadn't even touched the water yet, and our job was to turn it into a completely outfitted fishing machine.
We're talking MFDs/chartplotters, radar, VHF, AIS, autopilot, windlass, kicker motor, downriggers, crab pot puller, rod holders, fishing table, electrical work, rigging and a whole lot more.
We start up front installing and wiring the windlass and anchor setup before working our way through the rest of the boat. I also install the mounting system for the fishing equipment, rig the kicker, run controls, fuel and electrical, install outlets, work behind the dash and eventually give you a walkthrough of how everything came together.
And because this is Sailing UV, nothing goes completely according to plan. 😂 Cameras stop recording, I give my coworkers a hard time, and eventually we head back to the boat to see Violet before finishing the episode with her burning off some energy at the dog park.
Meanwhile, UV, our 57-foot ketch-rigged fiberglass tank, is waiting patiently for us.
She's a total project boat, but every week we're checking things off the list as we work toward the ultimate goal:

Jonathan sold everything in Ohio to purchase a neglected 1996 Henry Morgan 57 in the Northern California. Operating under the channel Sailing UV, he and his 100lb Doberman, Violet, are currently executing a massive technical refit near Sausalito.
