Bonus Episode: YACHT DELIVERY CHRONICLES : Kettenburg K40

Hello Friends,

My dear friends Captain Dave Stovall and his wife Samantha (both of whom you may remember from the “Yacht Delivery Chronicles Season”) Bought a 1961 Kettenburg K40 in Ventura California. This all wood boat is very beautiful but needs some love.

The biggest problem we faced was the Grey Marine GAS engine. We hate gas engines on boats because they can easily turn the boat into a bomb. We were rushed by the broker to get the slip off of the private dock shortly after they gave him his money so we had to by pass the fuel tank that was full of bad fuel and use a small dinghy tank to get the boat to limp over to a transient slip.

We returned to bring the boat home a few days later and the engine held on long enough to get us outside the breakwater at Ventura, which was all we really needed.
