After 3 months apart, Ryan is finally back in Canada, Brittni is about to give birth and we can officially say it… We bought a catamaran! The 48ft Fountaine Pajot Salina 48 is ours!
In this sit down we answer the questions you’ve all been asking in the comments of our last few videos. Why is Ryan in Canada instead of on the boat? How do we really feel about the survey? What work does the Fountaine Pajot Salina 48 actually need? And what’s the plan now that baby #2 is due in the next two weeks?
We’ll be in Canada for the next few months for the birth, then head back to the boat to start the refit and turn this catamaran into Sunday 2.0.
This was not a last minute decision. After 7 years and more than 65,000 nautical miles on our monohull Sunday, we outgrew her as a family. We put an offer in sight unseen, flew and sailed to see her, completed the survey and now the offer has been accepted. In this video we walk through the real issues: engines, rigging, blisters, what we knew going in and what has to be fixed before this liveaboard family moves back onboard.
