The BEST Way To Install A Starlink GEN 3 On A Boat
Pole mounting the older Starlink units is a necessity because they need to be free to move, and also practical due to they’re smaller size. However, the new Gen 3 dish has a much bigger surface area that in our view presents too much windage to be reasonably pole mounted aboard a boat. Because it does not articulate, the Gen 3 can be mounted flat, opening up different installation options.
If you have a flat space aboard, such as atop your dodger or bimini, the Speedmount made by Trio Flatmount is a fantastic way to securely and permanently mount your Gen 3 Starlink unit. In this video, we show you the simple steps to install the Speedmount, along with some extra steps that made our installation offshore and sail ready.
